The distance of closeness

Isn't it funny how you can live with a partner yet not talk about things, no communication and you feel so distant yet the outside world sees you as close as anything. Know their favourite drink or the food to make so you bring a smile to their face, knowing the exact questions to ask to stop the tension in the house, yet walk around daily like a zombie, just knowing to go with the flow.
Then there is friends you do not talk to for weeks, months even years and you feel so close to them that it does not feel like a day has passed since you have last spoken. Yet they do not know your favourite foods or the things to make you calm but they know the question to make you feel relaxed and wanted.
Confiding in someone so far away you do not speak to often but have that connection yet silence between the one you have vowed your eternal love to and you do not even know what they think at that moment in time when you look at them and observe their moves,
