Hilversum

Yup Hilversum is the town where I live. Most of the time it’s not very interesting but we do have moments where something interesting will happen. Hilversum is known as the Hollywood of The Netherlands. It is where all the television shows are made and where most of the actors and singers live. If they do not live in Hilversum, then they are in the small neighboring villages of Laren and Blaricum. To get an average sized house in those villages your looking at a small amount in the millions. The house in the photo is for sale. Should you purchase it, you will get $500 in change out of $3,000,000.00. If you were to ask anything more than $300,000 for this house in Australia, people would laugh at you!


On the upside, I live only 100 meters from the forest and there is so much nature around it is not even funny. It often reminds me of home with all the forests and nature parks. Its really surprising when you see the size of the country.
I can't understand how some of the big countries don’t really give a s.. hit about nature and the pollution going on in the world and a small country like The Netherlands does so much. There are a huge amount of laws over here on building houses and running a car. There are considerable discounts if one rides a bike or takes public transport.


I was shocked when I heard the other day that within 40 years 70% of the South and North Pole will have melted. Does anyone know or care what it would do to the earth and to all of its wild life? Well, for starters, get a look at polar bears now as they will be only be seen in zoos. Most of The Netherlands will be under water (again). Most small islands will disappear, bye bye Fiji. You’re lovely and tropical and a great tourist place, but enjoy it while it lasts.
I just can’t get a grip on the fact that we are not doing enough for the world. Many fail to see that it is a living breathing thing, and it gives us life, hope and a future. It is like your skin, your health and your teeth. If you look after yourself you will live longer (in most cases). Abuse a good way of living by eating too much, not brushing your teeth and see what happens.
Research shows that cave men only lived until their 30's and that is on a good day. We are living longer and abusing the earth much more.
Goodness me this was meant to be a blog about where I lived and the nice things surrounding me. It ended up turning into a nagging and blubbering blog about the earth.
